As the holidays approach, we would like to look back with you at what we have accomplished in the past year and look ahead to a promising new year.

A year of growth and cooperation
2024 was marked by important developments within the world of fiber and fiber connectivity. Thanks to your efforts and commitment, we achieved a lot:

Established new collaborations with a focus on innovation and sustainability. A great example is the start of the QKD project with the University of Twente. In addition, the initial impetus was given to the Fiber Academy in 2024, which will be completed in 2025.

Important lobbying results achieved, including the publication of the report ‘The State of Digital Infrastructure’ and the position paper ‘Preservation of free WiFi spectrum in the 6GHz band’. In addition, the FCA is a core team member of the Sea Cable Coalition, a participant in the Fixed Connectivity Working Group and holds the chairmanship role within the ELFA (European Local Fiber Alliance).

Organized inspiring meetings and events, such as the Fiber Trade Day together with Green Datacenter Conference, the Summer Drinks with the DDA, the Christmas lunch and the inspiring seminars ‘Fiber in Town and Country’ and ‘Safely Navigating the Fiber’. The FCA was also highly visible both nationally and internationally at the Kickstart Conference, Submarine Networks EMEA and the FTTH Conference, among others.

Further expanded our community, with new members and partners strengthening our position as the industry association for fiber. In 2024, we were pleased to welcome Simac Electronics, Exa Infrastructure and Eljes Infrastructure Projects, among others.

Looking ahead to 2025
In 2025 we continue to build on our FAIBER strategy (Fiber, AI, Business-opportunities, Encryption and Resilience). We are already noticing more demand from the AI world, among others, how Fiber can support their Business. We see companies paying more and more attention to good Encryption and Resilient connections. Download the eventcalender here.
